We are a group of dedicated and civic minded SENIOR CITIZENS who are SERIOUS ABOUT SERVICE. We have collectively agreed to volunteer our time, experience, and knowledge to other service and social organizations within DeSoto County. We have served refreshments at a Red Cross fund raising activity, acted as greeters at various functions within the county, provided bottled water for volunteer work crews during clean-up efforts sponsored by Keep Horn Lake Beautiful, and served at other significant functions.
Seniors in Action meet at the M.R. DYE Library, 2885 Goodman Road W., at 10:30 A.M. on the 4th Thursday of each month, except November and December. In November and December, we meet on the 3rd Thursday to prevent scheduling conflicts during the Holiday Season. We are a rather informal group; however, we do follow a scheduled agenda and open and close the meeting in due form. The meetings normally last about 1 1/2 hours.
We normally have a THEME for each meeting and one of the members is in charge of the program. We work hard and play hard so our monthly meetings include a little work and a lot of fun.
As a group, we support other service organizations functioning within DeSoto County.
If you are on the GOLDEN side of 55, are serious about service, have some time and talent to share with others, you would be most welcome to visit or join us on a regular basis. Seniors in Action is a volunteer group first and foremost, but we also make time for enjoying life and cultivating new friendships.
